Firsts – Home automation

Living in an old rented house in Japan. With precious electronics all over, it was time to put them to good use.

Enter the Rasperry Pi3. I’ve always wanted one but just wasn’t sure about what to do with it. I would like to learn programming but there was really no use at that point.

Watching some BRUH automation I decided to take the plunge. The setup for Home assistant looked pretty straight forward.

Amazon prime to the rescue.

While waiting the day it took I watched the newer install video, a video about hassio, the simpler install.

Unboxing and installing HASS.io is that it? Way too simple.

Fortunately and unfortunately I won’t need or will have more difficulty in using python as hass.io seems more complete.

Installing the configurator link was a new experience but well done to force you to understand the basics.

Plex server was auto-detected as well as my connected “smart” tv. Phones and what not came later.

Later edit. My plex server was detected and token entered. But it seems to always give me an error in the logs.
