Redo with wemos D1 mini?

Originally I automated the rental house by attaching the sonoff to the device they would control as opposed to the switch as the wiring was a single switch wire and it’s a rental. That also meant that I covered the switch plates with an extended and a blank faceplate. The switches permanently in the on position underneath.

The sonoff needs a ground connection? it’s also a little bulky. So I’m thinking that at least for my bathroom light and fan project that I would try a wemos d1 mini with relay in the wall switch.

My previous idea of a

  1. sonoff in the light receptacle of the bathroom (shower room) with LED strips just wasn’t bright enough.
  2. A sonoff B1 also wasn’t bright enough. (Later I got the milight 12w but it’s too big for the light)

To do this this additional and test mod. I’ll still need

  • 5v adapter to power the units
  • Wemos d1 mini
  • Relay 1-2
  • Standoffs or a way to secure the wemos and relays.
  • Cutting hole to switch plate extender for 5v in

Thinking long term I might convert some BRUH sensors to tasmota and stuff them in the switch boxes with relays.

  • 5v adapter to power the units
  • Nodemcu
  • Relay 1-2 (maybe a 4 if possible)
  • Standoffs or a way to secure the wemos and relays.
  • Cutting hole in the switch plate extender for 5v, PIR, led, DHT, lux.
