After 2 months suddenly it stopped registering humidity. The reading for a few days were very high. I chalked it off as the humidity factor as we enter the rainy season. But today was 45-50% humidity.Even the wash area sensor registered 60.Something was wrong. It seemed to be recovering a little but i no longer felt it was accurate. So I swapped it for the DHT22 in … Continue reading DHT22 AM2302
Originally I automated the rental house by attaching the sonoff to the device they would control as opposed to the switch as the wiring was a single switch wire and it’s a rental. That also meant that I covered the switch plates with an extended and a blank faceplate. The switches permanently in the on position underneath. The sonoff needs a ground connection? it’s also … Continue reading Redo with wemos D1 mini?
Once in a while the BRUH multisensors either reboot or drop off wifi, this was apparent with the graphs from HA but even more so with grafana. Grafana after a week. The drops are quite noticeable. This could perhaps be made to look better by increasing polling time or data intervals Sometimes in sync (wifi router?) other times randomly and individually I thought to myself. … Continue reading BRUH multi-sensors resetting?
Not long after making my BRUH multisensors I realized I had to modify one to have 2 PIR sensors. Editing the code I managed to do just that. PIR installed. Tested and works great. It’s a multisensor in middle of a corridor with 2 AM312s pointing in opposite directions. About a month later one of the PIRs started to have ghosting or signs of failure. … Continue reading AM312 PIR issues
Dr ZZs once made a video about ghost switching. When long leads pickup signals and the esp8266 (sonoff) interprets them as inputs. Not quite the case. Although the cases for the multi sensors are a little ghostly. (Car air fresheners containers from Daiso) My light was going on and off randomly in a room that was not occupied. His happened in consistently at night which … Continue reading USB ghost switching
Living in an old rented house in Japan. With precious electronics all over, it was time to put them to good use. Enter the Rasperry Pi3. I’ve always wanted one but just wasn’t sure about what to do with it. I would like to learn programming but there was really no use at that point. Watching some BRUH automation I decided to take the plunge. … Continue reading Firsts – Home automation
Received sonoffs a week ago. Been having an inordinate amount of trouble getting the portable arduino ide software working. It would give me various errors with no solution. Installing the full version for some reason made the problems go away. The unstable jumperwire connection I had made to the sonoff didn’t much help. A little electrical tape to wrap the pins helped. Having the whole … Continue reading Sonoffs flashed
For the Bruh multisensor, I decided it might be prudent of me to also order some cheap USB power adapters after all if all the parts were in working order I’d have 10 multi-sensors sensors. Now I know not to expect much especially when I found a dual 2.1/1 amp charger for 103JPY. I figured I’d give them a try, as with shipping they would … Continue reading My first hiccup with AliExpress
